Support Swiftly Found: A New Chapter of Advocacy and Support
Swiftly Found began as a humble blog, a sanctuary for individuals affected by ostomy, eczema, and endometriosis—conditions that impact many, yet are often overlooked. Over the past few months, our vision has expanded, and we are excited to announce our evolution into a legally registered entity.
A recent survey by the Ostomy Association of Uganda reveals that over 730 people are living with a stoma, a condition that is often neglected and misunderstood. These individuals face daily challenges that require specialized care, including essential ostomy kits, proper orientation, and regular medical check-ups.
Unfortunately, the cost of this necessary care is beyond the reach of the average Ugandan. Many are left to struggle without the vital resources they need to live healthy, dignified lives.
Why Your Help Matters:
- Essential Supplies: Your donation can provide ostomy kits that are crucial for managing this condition. Without proper supplies, many individuals are forced to use makeshift alternatives like polythene bags, which are unsanitary and can hinder recovery.
- Education and Support: Help us offer proper orientation and training for individuals and their families.
- Medical Care: Ensure regular check-ups and follow-up care, preventing complications and improving quality of life.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis affects 1 out of 10 women of reproductive age in Uganda. Endometriosis is a condition where cells that usually line the inside of the uterus begin to grow outside of it, typically within the pelvic region. These cells respond to hormonal changes, leading to painful irritation, inflammation, and scarring in the affected areas. When untreated, endometriosis leaves a significant number of women infertile.
Many people are unaware of this condition, often believing that severe menstrual pain is normal
Why Your Help Matters:
- Education and Support: Provide comprehensive education and support for endometriosis management, including pain relief, nutritional guidance, mental health resources, fertility counseling, lifestyle tips, and navigating healthcare.
- Medical Care: Ensure access to regular check-ups, specialist consultations, and effective treatment plans to manage and alleviate endometriosis symptoms.
A research by the National Library of Medicine shows an 8.2% overall age-adjusted prevalence of eczema. For those grappling with eczema, the enduring struggle, emotional impact, and financial strain are profound.
Why Your Help Matters:
- Essential Supplies: Provide access to essential skincare products like moisturizers, gentle cleansers, and topical treatments to alleviate symptoms and maintain skin health.
- Education and Training: Offer comprehensive education on eczema management, including understanding triggers, proper skincare routines, and lifestyle modifications to minimize flare-ups.
- Ongoing Medical Care: Ensure access to dermatologists and healthcare professionals for regular check-ups, personalized treatment plans, and guidance on managing eczema symptoms effectively.
Our desire to transform opens new doors to better support our cause, enabling us to:
